stop hating your body

body positivity: accepting your body as it is and attempting to make everyone else feel comfortable in their own skin as well

hello babes,

i'm aware that many people nowadays have a negative body image. i see it in my everyday life and this is something i struggled with for a while. it's hard, but step by step, you can start feeling better and loving yourself a little more everyday.

this article topic has been requested by one of the girls support girls community member! i hope this helps you in some way ♡

i believe everyone has a beautiful and unique body. all sizes are beautiful, but there comes the problem. in social media, magazines and in many ads the models are so skinny. sadly, that makes many woman think that if they don't look exactly as the models, they're not "beautiful" or they aren't allowed to wear some style of clothes they love. your body is the best. and you know why? because there's no body like yours, you should absolutely be proud of it.

it's like when you were a kid, you didn't compare yourself to others, at least not like you do these days. you don't need to change yourself for anybody, if someone tells you your not good enough, don't change yourself for them. if you want to do some changes with your body, do it for yourself and yourself only.

i know it's not easy to just start loving your body, but little changes make a big difference. just look at yourself in front of the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful, your body looks good and there is someone who loves you just the way you are. it sounds like a cliché, but it all begins in your mind. you have to accept yourself, and when you do, you will feel amazing, trust me.

medias and the people around us try to influence the way we dress, the way we talk, the way our bodies should look like. therefore, we grow up thinking that we should look a certain way in order to be happy and fit in. if we want to break those social patterns, we can start by loving ourselves and the amazing bodies we have.

here are some tips to learn to love your body:

don't compare your body to anyone else's

each of us have unique and different bone structures and therefore some body goals are unachievable. please, don't sacrifice your mental health and don't starve yourself in order to reach those goals.

dress with clothes that make you feel comfortable and beautiful

remember that the clothes more adequate to your body type are the ones that YOU love!

get out of social media for a while

when you are having an "i hate my body" moment, please leave social media for a while. turn off your phone for a while. instead, read a book, watch a tv show, go for a walk, hang out with your friends, or anything that keeps you distracted.

be selective with what you follow on social media

you can't stay out of social media forever, i know. so, the best you can do now is unfollow negative users. unfollow those users who only post about "perfect bodies", that is NOT the way most people look in real life, and they will make you feel awful. unfollow everything that makes you compare yourself to others and feel bad about your body. posts about "perfect bodies" ARE NOT A GOOD MOTIVATION, they only make you feel worse.

online positivity

now that you unfollowed negative users, try to follow new ones that post about body positivity and self love. keep positive vibes around you!

surround yourself with people who make you feel confident

pick good friends and let go those relationships that are not good for your self confidence. don't let anyone treat you like you are not worth it or like you need to change the way you look. you need people in your life that accept you for who you are.

think about all the things your body allows you to do

you can walk, run, dance, sing, make art, swim, laugh, play sports, learn, and many other things. do the things you love and try new ones, that's how you will realize everything you can actually do. that's what's important about your body, not the way it looks. don't let anyone convince you of the opposite.

take care of your health

eat, drink water, sleep enough, don't stress, exercise. go to the doctor to learn how to be healthy. do all these things for your health, not for your look. don't chase the perfect body, that's impossible to reach, just try to stay healthy, physically and mentally. this means not getting obsessed with your look but, finding a balance. enjoy everything, life is short and you deserve to live happily.

control your thoughts

i know this can be hard, but you need to stop having negative thoughts. everytime you are feeling bad about yourself, just say positive things to yourself and repeat them, or you can read positive quotes. even if at the begging they seem fake to you, keep saying them to yourself until you actually believe them.

get help

if you think it's getting too bad and you can't control it, get help. you can talk to a friend, but it's better if you talk to an adult that can offer you better help. it can be someone from your family or another adult you trust, like a teacher or a school counsellor. don't be afraid or embarrassed. how you feel is normal, but it's not healthy and you don't have to feel like that forever.

every body is beautiful. nobody has the same body as you, every body is different in it's own way, and that's what makes us unique!

i hope these tips were helpful to you on how to stay body positive!

lot's of love,

V
