things i would tell to my high school self
oh, high school. four years full of some of the best and worst memories. those four years of high school will be the years you try to find yourself and sometimes that can be scary. so, here is some advice I wish I knew when I was struggling through high school.
don't give a damn thing about what others say
don't waste your time and energy on negative people. try to stay passive against them and ignore them as much as you can. stand for yourself if you have to. remember you probably won't see them again after high school so don't worry about them. (by the way, I am referring to negative, toxic people, not bullies because that's a totally different story)
it’s ok if you don’t know what you want to do when you grow up
don't stress over this. one day, you will know. you'll figure this out.
not everyone is going to like you but that's ok
you will be ugly for some, beautiful to others. some will find you funny, others will think you are boring. you will stop caring about what everyone thinks when you learn to love yourself.
yourself is more important than some stupid exams
nothing is more important than your health (mental and physical). don't stress so much, everything will work out in the end and if it won't, then it's not the end.
embrace your failure
don't be afraid to fail. see it as a chance to start over, to do things better. learn from your mistakes. if you don't fall, you won't have the chance to rise.
you are beautiful just the way you are
you are one of a kind baby, isn't that beautiful?
stop comparing yourself to others
comparing yourself to someone else is only going to hurt you. no matter what, someone will always be smarter, prettier, cooler, funnier and nicer. everyone is different and each person possesses his/her own special qualities that sets him/her apart. focus instead on what makes you YOU. and learn to love your special qualities.
don't worry too much about your grades
grades matter, but it isn't the end of the world if you fail one test or get one bad grade. apply yourself and strive for greatness, but remember you can mess up and make mistakes.
friends: quality over quantity
this is probably the biggest thing i wish i could send back to my past self. there are friends you are friends with simply because they are in your friends group, am i right?
in the end, it is so much better to have a few friends you will do anything in life for than a dozen friends who wouldn’t do the same for you.
don't judge a book by it's cover
do not judge someone for being different. gay, straight, blue hair, black nails, different clothes, it doesn’t matter. they are a person and they deserve to be treated with respect and kindness just the same as you do. you can never imagine how some people can surprise you. give everyone a chance to show you some of their magic.
